We are constantly making choices. In the appearances it looks like we are choosing for a great number of things effecting our daily lives. What to eat, how to dress, where to work, what channel to watch and so on. Hundreds of choices every day. But below all that surface movement a much more important choice is also being made. And this choice is the very foundation of all our experiences and the reality that we live in.

 

We have a choice to go up or down; we can choose for love or fear. And whether we are aware of this or not, this choice is made moment by moment inside of us.

 

The power of Ascension is in the fact that it provides a very simple and effective tool for making this choice consciously. We need only to begin and then get out of the way. We simply introduce an Ascension Attitude and let it work for us. It is our attitude toward life that determines the quality of our experiences. Outwardly life may appear much the same but our choice of attitude will make a huge difference in our inner experience of life. And eventually we come to the understanding that this inner choice is where the love and fulfillment are found and where our connection with the Source is made.

 

The more that we become aware of the deeper level of choices we are making the more our power to change our lives increases. Once we begin to let go of the age old belief in victim-hood we realize that right within us we are creators through the choices that we make. Every experience we have is a result of our cumulative choices.

 

As our awareness expands and our choice becomes more refined it is even more important what we focus on. Increased clarity and focus will manifest our choices quicker and quicker. This is a good thing because we get to see very quickly the results whether they are wonderful or less appealing. Our evolution speeds up the more we take the responsibility of choosing in every moment.

 

An important question to ask yourself is, where am I compromising in my life?

A Single Eye

It will be most difficult to make Love, Praise, or Gratitude a permanent quality if you fail to break the habit of judging by appearances. The problems and sorrows on the human level cannot be ignored as though they were non-existent. It is only by keeping your eye single to the glory of my presence, the glory lying underneath appearances, that you are able to become familiar with the "everlasting arms" of the Holy Spirit.

 

All the while, the web of appearances may be there to contend with. But let your troubled heart be still in the midst of this great storm while the three Ascension Attitudes wake up your Father consciousness. The Father has dominion over any storm that rages.

 

If you keep looking at appearances and judging difficulties to be my will, it is the same as closing off the avenue through which I help you.

 

All appearances are abolished through increased understanding. When you accept the race belief regarding any situation, failing to hunger for that increased understanding, you have erected a dam across the flow of truth.

No illness springs into being overnight. Wrong thoughts must continue for a long time before the body's magnificent immune system fails. This should (or at least can) bring great hope to the suffering of the world.

 

Change the mind and the effects will change. It is interesting to note that another meaning of John the Babtist word, "repent" in the Greek was "change your mind."

 

This is skill in action. If you desire a glorious future, transform the present. There is actually no other choice. What control we have over our environment is strictly limited. But we do have complete control over how we use our own minds.

The Ego's Use of Guilt

The ego cannot oppose the laws of God any more than you can, but it can interpret them according to what it wants, just as you can. That is why the question, "What do you want?" must be answered. You are answering it every minute and every second, and each moment of decision is a judgment that is anything but ineffectual. Its effects will follow automatically until the decision is changed. Remember, though, that the alternatives themselves are unalterable. The Holy Spirit, like the ego, is a decision. Together they constitute all the alternatives the mind can accept and obey. The Holy Spirit and the ego are the only choices open to you. God created one, and so you cannot eradicate it. You made the other, and so you can. Only what God creates is irreversible and unchangeable. What you made can always be changed because, when you do not think like God, you are not really thinking at all. Delusional ideas are not real thoughts, although you can believe in them. But you are wrong. The function of thought comes from God and is in God. As part of His Thought, you cannot think apart from Him.

It's not what happens that determines your future, it's what you do with what happens. Rather than complaining about the wind or the current, it's more valuable to determine the direction you wish to go and set your sails accordingly. Do you wish to be focused and guided by Love? Every moment is an opportunity to make that choice and set it in motion.
